Bran
Wheat bran is a complimentary foodstuff commonly used for horses. Bran is derived from the outer layer of wheat grains, rich in essential fatty acids, starch, protein and vitamins & minerals. Bran can be used to supplement phosphorous in horses where it is lacking from grass, but is not suitable for laminitics due to the high starch content (typically 13-18%). It can also be used to balance calcium intake for horses fed high alfalfa diets.
